I know it’s been out since November but today, I’m going to see writer-director Mike Mills’ latest movie C’mon, C’mon. He chose to shoot it in black and white, Joaquin Phoenix is in it and it’s playing in my favorite art house theater. Three good reasons to go. Plus Mills’ 20th Century Women was nominated for the Oscar for best original screenplay in 2016.

That just happens to be playing on Amazon Prime so 20th is first up on today’s agenda. Why not? There’s no better way to get inspiration than to take in or read the best material available.
But I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you that the big finale and counterpoint to those sweet, low budget independent movies will be a matinee of, a genuine, CGI spectacle that was made for the biggest screen you can find. Drum roll please…

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the third in the most recent trilogy starring Tom Holland as Peter Parker (Spidey) and Benedict Cumberbatch back as the master of mystical magic, Dr. Strange. There’s already a ton of hype about this tentpole from the MCU but you already know that so I’ll spare you. Except to say this movie broke box office records BEFORE it even opened.
It’s going to be a fun day at the movies. Now I better get after it or I won’t have time for all three. Reviews for C’mon C’mon and No way Home to follow.
