OsteoStrong is the only fitness franchise in the world (as far as I know) that zooms in on building skeletal strength and bone health. I first learned about it reading Tony Robbins’ latest bestseller, Life Force. You’ll find several posts about this state-of-the-art fitness studio on this blog. I became a member of the San Antonio franchise in April of last year. The experience has been great.
My progress is also pretty amazing, with an overall increase in body strength of 65 percent as of last week – an average over four machines. My upper GT has increased 105 percent in six months of once weekly sessions and my lower GT increased 104 percent. That’s without doing anything else except walking and occasionally lifting light weights.
I’m NOT quitting but after 6 months I feel I’ve reached a plateau and something is telling me to back off and take a break. As the holidays are swiftly approaching, now seems a good time to exercise my membership option of putting it on hold for two months. I cancelled my session for today for other reasons and will take advantage of one or two more sessions before my official hiatus begins on November 18.
This journey began for me because of a recent DXA scan (a radiological bone density diagnostic) that showed advanced Osteopenia on the verge of becoming Osteoporosis. It might sound underwhelming but the Life Force data convinced me that this is not a condition to take lightly, It turns out all my siblings have some stage of weakening bones.
I can’t say enough about how valuable I find OsteoStrong and encourage anyone with a desire to improve their bone health to give it a try, at the very least. Yes, it’s a little pricey but you can’t put a price on good health after all.
The staff at the OsteoStrong Stone Oak location in San Antonio is top notch. We’ve developed a working relationship that you don’t find at an ordinary gym. This is due in part because at OsteoStrong you work one-on-one with a trainer. I will miss them but will be back in the new year.
